I'm self-employed and use my own vehicle for work. Every evening, log today's business journeys from [my car app or tracker / my calendar / a quick text from me], work out the claim at HMRC's simplified mileage rates, and keep a running total for the tax year. Add the claims to my accounting app ([FreeAgent / Xero / QuickBooks]) each night, checking for duplicates first. If a trip looks personal, ask me before logging it. Start every message with 'Mileage Logger:' on its own line.
